Philadelphia, PA Engagement Session at the Vinyl Philly : Leah & Chris

Bar engagement sessions have become all the rage this year, but I can honestly say that Leah & Chris did it right.

Vinyl Philly is a Philadelphia bar scene that means a lot to both Leah & Chris, having spent many date nights there over the course of their relationship. I absolutely loved the way they both moved through the space. Initially worried about looking awkward or unnatural, I could easily see they both came alive in the energy of drinks and dancing and being hip to hip on a bar stool. When you allow yourself to relax into that feeling, everything else comes easily. It’s what I always strive for in my engagement sessions and encourage my couples to embrace - the idea of DOING something that feels natural to you removes so much of that awkward tension that can come from being in front of a camera.

And hey, a stiff drink always helps.

Walking the side streets in Philly, we ended the session with them running hand in hand, evoking a sense of playfulness and joyful energy that is so clearly them. Never taking themselves TOO seriously, but still very serious about taking photos, every misstep or awkward movement was met with laughter and falling into each other’s arms. As a photographer, that energy is a DREAM to photograph. Never sweat the small stuff, just be together. That’s really all it takes to elevate an engagement session.

I absolutely loved photographing these two, and I’m so excited for their upcoming wedding at Hotel Du Village!

And if you’re looking for an engagement session in the Philadelphia area, especially if you’re in love with a bar vibe for your photos, I’d love the chance to bring your vision to life! You can inquire here!
