Ask your inner goddess and follow your intuition.

That was Amber’s advice to other couples planning their own weddings, and I couldn’t love it more.

She and PJ are deeply connected individuals, and not just with one another. To the earth, to their art, to music and movement - they are both deeply rooted in their passions, and it shows in their personalities and throughout their September wedding day. Alive with character and personality, I laughed the hardest at PJ’s craziness and modeling abilities (a true star), and I fell in love with Amber’s calm and gracious manner. She moved with fluidity and ease, and my eye was naturally drawn to her movement as she floated throughout the inn. I think if I had to choose a singular word to describe their wedding, it would be fluid. A soft ripple in the stream, meeting no barrier whatsoever. Just a floating, fleeting fall night saying yes to forever.

I think that’s what I love most about the couples I work with - they are so connected to their roots and don’t allow outside influences to interrupt the flow of their day. After their ceremony, I love that they both snuck away to the privacy of a little alcove in the woods and exchanged rings. We kept some distance away, just snapping photos behind a tree or a bush (true paparazzi style.) They said a few words and committed themselves to one another in a private moment, and that truly hit home for me. That is a WEDDING. It’s not about the traditions or the outfits or the party or the food. All those things have their place, but a wedding is about commitment. Private moments in the woods. A promise of forever. I remember their day so vividly centered around that moment and still feel such a deep connection to the way they went about it. Just humbles me to think about these two stellar humans choosing me to be there to witness it.

After a few family photos, we waited for the moon to peek out in the sky for a photo op. Amber & PJ call each other moon after all, so it was a must for me. All those gathered sang a beautiful song together as well, a traditional song of their families. It was such a touching moment and brought more than a few tears to my eyes. Sentiment will do it for me every time my friends, and this was no exception.

I still look back on their day with such happiness and joy, remembering that moment in the woods and the sound of a song under the moon. I am thankful for the opportunity to work with such a passionate, engaging, and gracious couple and I look forward to seeing them again VERY SOON for Amber’s sister’s wedding! Another day I know I’ll never forget.

Here’s a small peek at the wonder of their day!
