Anchor Up to Me, Love : Lehigh Valley, PA Elopement & Wedding Photographer

Taught the hand that taut the bride
Both our eyes lock to the tide
We went in circles somewhere else….

I haven’t blogged in so long. And I hate that.
But for this session I had to take the time.

It hadn’t visited this spot since 2017. It’s a STEEP hike, and requires muscles that I admit I don’t have. But the view from the top? 1000% worth it.

I had a vision for this session the moment I decided a trip “up” was necessary for some future projects. I wanted to see a simple gown of white, a crown perched on platinum curls, a bouquet of muted color, and a veil of length and flow. A Queen in her own right, but still soft and tender with the one she loves. I’ll admit, once I latch onto an idea, I run with it full fury, and had the pieces put together faster than I could climb the mountain itself, haha!

While brutally hot, and with the sun hidden behind clouds most of the time, I was absolutely in love with the results as I watched my vision come to life. I adore the fact that we were able to shoot in the blue hour, which is the hour after the sun sets. I so rarely get to stretch my wings and shoot in that kind of light and I love the dreamy feel it gives to the photos towards the end of the evening. Like something from a different time and place.

It’s never an “easy” feat to shoot in conditions where the ground isn’t exactly flat and your footing needs to be planted and sound. But I love the challenge, the depth of emotion, and the mood - and I will never say no to any feat when the results speak so loudly to my heart. I am nothing if not a hopeless romantic, willing to follow love wherever it may roam, and the photos we captured between Britton & LeeAnn make my heart sing. That is all I want from my job. Photos that inspire me to feel things so deeply and so intensely.

I hope you can feel it too

Let that music play…

Back to You : An Open Heart Session - Lehigh Valley & Poconos, PA Couples Photographer

I've been on a campaign lately to show you all how much my heart longs for Open Heart Sessions.

I know it probably looks very overwhelming, but I can promise couldn't be easier.

Because the chemistry you see? It's real. The passion you feel? It's there. It's just a matter of prompting you to be there, in that moment. Two hearts, one camera.

Every session I do is inspired by a little something....this one by the new song by Selena Gomez, Back to You. I love the way in which the song describes how one's heart always belongs to that one person, no matter how much you try and fight it. Sometimes the heart wants what it wants...another thing Selena Gomez knows a bit about ;)

Reading the lyrics really spoke to me....

Took you like a shot
Thought that I could chase you with a cold evening
Let a couple years water down how I'm feeling about you

And every time we talk
Every single word builds up to this moment
And I gotta convince myself I don't want it
Even though I do

You could break my heart in two
But when it heals, it beats for you
I know it's forward, but it's true

I wanna hold you when I'm not supposed to
When I'm lying close to someone else
You're stuck in my head and I can't get you out of it
If I could do it all again
I know I'd go back to you

Let the music play as you view this beautiful Open Heart Session with an adventurous couple who absolutely blew me away with their own kind and open hearts. It's not every day you can meet someone last minute at a park and have them expose their hearts to you so honestly. Theeee best <3

Eaton Wedding : Dallas, PA Wedding Photographer

If you could picture the most perfect day to have your wedding....warm, but not too hot, sunny, but plenty of cool shade for photos, and absolutely no hiccups the entire day...that would be Abby & Bruce's June wedding.  There was not a moment where we were stressed for time, running around trying to beat the clock. Every single moment was simple, easy, and stress free.

Both the bride and groom were surrounded by their absolute favorite people, smiling ear to ear the entire day. Family came from far and wide to celebrate their union, and I love that they had a close family friend officiate their ceremony. The gorgeous flowers and wooded scenery gave such a whimsical vibe during their ceremony, creating the magic we all dream of as we exchange vows with our one true love <3

And I love the way Abby and Bruce love each other. They have such an ease, a simple can see the way Abby's nose crinkles when she laugh's, and the way Bruce has a coy, secret smile just for her. They are the epitome of happiness these two, and I'm so honored I was there to celebrate their wedding day.

Let that special song play as you scroll on through!

Cozze Wedding : Lehigh Valley, PA Wedding Photographer

I can tell you that the entire week before the Cozze's got hitched, up until the morning of, it was calling for 100% chance of rain and thunderstorms. I admit, I was getting a little nervous, knowing Chantelle & Frank planned to exchange their vows outdoors on Cozze family property.

In calling Chantelle a few days before, I reminded her we'd need to prepare for anything. And you know what? She had no worries whatsoever. She just wanted it to be about her and Frank, nothing else mattered.

And you know what else? Aside from some clouds and some sprinkles here and there, the sun shined brilliantly

Both Chantelle & Frank are easy going, genuinely HAPPY people. Huge hearts, even bigger smiles. Every single decoration was handmade by the two of them with love, from the arbor to the signage. Personal touches were spread throughout every nook and cranny. Oh and their dogs? I don't know that you could find a more loyal pair. They followed their mom and dad all day long, watching over them or sitting near them during all the important aspects of their day.

Their families surrounded them with joy and laughter, and it was truly a pleasure to witness. I don't know that we've ever had such an easy, care free day. And I'm so happy to share some highlights from their wedding day with you <3

Let that music play, a song that is very special to both the bride and groom!

Kane Wedding : Pennsylvania Wedding Photographer

It was an unexpectedly cool and misty day in May...

...and we loved every minute of it.

Kimberley and Michael created a calm and natural atmosphere on the day they exchanged vows, choosing to accept the rain and roll with the punches, pulling out umbrellas when necessary. The mist and fog added such depth and mood to their day!

All day long there were easy smiles, quiet laughter, and tender moments. Both bride and groom are kind, laid back individuals and I think that gentle touch is apparent all throughout the crisp and clean ambiance.  Having to scrap a few plans due to the rain, I was so happy that the weather held off long enough for us to sneak outside and capture some of the rolling hills of Olde Homestead Golf Club! The barn lit up with a rustic vibe as they danced the night away.

We thoroughly enjoyed capturing the Kane's as they began a new chapter as husband and wife and are so excited to share some highlights from their day!

Make sure to let their first dance song play as you scroll through <3

Art & Soul.

When we arrived to yesterday's shoot location, it started raining. No rain had been on the forecast, and yet a dark and foreboding cloud hung directly over us the moment we pulled into the parking lot. Sitting in the car, waiting for the rain to pass, I had a moment where I thought...this is it. This is where you need to shine. In the unexpected and the less than perfect. Because you can plan and you can plot and you can have the best of intentions and it will STILL pour rain over your best laid plans, and you better be prepared to go with the flow regardless.

And you know what? As soon as that rain stopped, a perfect rainbow shot across the sky.

I want you to understand something...I love this job. I have since the beginning. But I have always sought after so much more than a perfectly posed portrait. I firmly believe in the power of emotion and connection to elevate photos from snapshots to works of art, and it's the art and the soul of the medium that has always attracted me.

But can I tell you something? Soul? It's a HARD thing to produce. It's not something that can be replicated, manufactured, or faked. I love each session I work on because I view our sessions like a dance, with us working in tandem to create something beautiful. But it requires a piece of me just as much as it requires a piece of you, and I want to make sure I give you my all.

You know those old family photos your mom or grandmother has stashed in a box somewhere?  Do you remember the ones that stand out to you? I always love the ones that showed who we were, what we were like. I see the mischievous grin and know a rebel when I see one, or that shy smile and see a gentle, passive soul. Do I see a posed family portrait? Absolutely, and it's wonderful to see those sweet faces and features in beautiful detail. But the ones that make you stop and stare, and break into a smile, are the photos with that piece of soul. And that's what I want to provide you with.

So yesterday? I was completely hands off. I directed and prompted but I didn't interfere. I just watched each moment unfold naturally and I shot it the way I saw it happen. And you know what? The results blew me away. Because every expression was genuine. Every "pose" was heartfelt. And while I still steered the ship, these four stayed on course themselves, doing what they do best. Being together. Do you know how amazing it is to stand back and just be? To trust in the beauty of the moment? I want you to experience that for yourselves, because it is an amazingly freeing feeling.

This is what I want for you. I want authenticity. I want to see a picture I've taken of you to be hung up real big on your wall as ARTWORK. Not just a portrait. I want your children and your children's children to look back at what we've made and be able to tell without words that mom was a spitfire, or that grandpa loved to be rocked in his mama's arms. These are details that only photographs can bring us back to, and I find that to be such an amazing thought. Gives new meaning to the phrase "pictures worth a thousand words."

So what does this all mean? Well, to put it simply, I have a newfound awe and respect for this job of mine. And I'm going to bring that inspiration to every shoot moving forward. I'm going to give you an experience that truly defines "Valor & Vine" and that you won't be able to find just anywhere else. I can promise that there will be laughter, cuddles, joy, and tenderness. I will direct you but I will also trust you to show me exactly who you are, and I KNOW that it will be beautiful. That dance of ours will be more harmonious than ever before. And I can promise you that I will never ever stop seeing you as art.

Please watch and enjoy this wonderful family session that defines this family in it's purest form. And I hope you'll let that music play <3

S Family : A Family Session // Lehigh Valley & Poconos PA Family Photographer

It was cold. And windy. And the light left us so quickly. But there was love...oh was there love <3

Family sessions are among my absolute favorites to photograph. There is a genuine happiness and a realness that make each session such a joy. It's not always easy and circumstances are rarely perfect, but I love when families come to me and trust in my vision regardless. That's when the magic happens.

This session was done with my two favorite people in the industry, and it ended up as a mini of sorts...believe it or not little man was not feeling his best and the chill was making it difficult for everyone to feel comfortable. BUT in that thirty or so minutes that we got to shoot? Pure love, pure laughter. That's all that matters.

Friends, let go of any expectations. Let it be an experience. I think when you look back in 10, 20, 50 years you'll realize that photos were never about remembering what you looked like. It was always about remembering who you were.

Let the music play for extra goodness while you view!
